Daily Classwork Quarter 1
Below you will find the classwork assignments along with a summary of what we did in class. If you are absent, you will refer to this page the day/night you are absent to get your assignments so that they will be completed upon your return.
Quarter 1
8/31 - The students completed the Welcome Assignment. This assignment is due on September 1st by 11:59 pm. This assignment must be uploaded to Microsoft Teams where the assignment originated from. The Welcome Assignment is located below.

9/1 - We went over the Virtual Contract and the students filled out a follow along copy. The contract is located below.

9/2 - The students answered a series of questions about what the subject of history is. The questions are in a Microsoft Form entitled "DC US History Bellwork 9/2.
9/3 - The students viewed a powerpoint on the Civil War and Reconstruction. The poweroint can be found on the powerpoint section of this website.
9/4 - The students finished viewing the powerpoint from the previous day. The students have been taking notes on the powerpoint and will turn them in ALONG with the questions about the political cartoon at the end. The answers to the questions can be typed/written on your notes. The notes will be turned into the assignment that has been created on Teams. They are due by 11:59 PM Tuesday.
9/8 - The students read an article about the Election of 1876 and answered a series of questions on a Microsoft Form. The Article is located below.

9/9 - The students discussed "The Lost Cause Myth" after answering three questions about the Lost Cause in a bellwork (not graded). The students then completed the assignment from the previous day. It is due tonight by 11:59 PM
9/10 - The students and teacher held a discussion over the Compromise of 1877. We revisited some of the questions from the assignment on 9/8.
9/11 - The students began taking notes on the New South. The notes will be turned in by 11:59 pm on 9/15.
9/14 - The students finished taking notes on the New South. The notes will be turned in by 11:59 pm on 9/15.
9/15 - The students analyzed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments and answered a series of questions in a Microsoft Form. The form is located within the assignment created on TEAMS. This assignment is due at 8:00 am on 9/16

9/16 - The students went over the previous day's assignment.
9/17 - The students answered a series of questions regarding Westward Expansion after the Civil War using the source below. The students were afforded the oportunity to use other sources as well but all of the information can be found in the PDF file below.

9/18 - The students continued the previous day's assignment to make sure they had it done and turned in by the due date: 9/18 at 8:00 pm.
9/21 - The students were involved in a class discussion about the article about Westward Expansion from last Thursday and Friday.
9/22 - There was no official meeting to log on to. The students logged on to teams and completed the assignment entitled 9/22 Assignment (Coach Martin cannot log on today due to the ACT).
9/23 - The students began taking notes on Native Americans and Westward expansion. The powerpoint is located in the US powerpoints section of this website. The notes are due by 9/25 at 11:59 pm.
9/24 - The students worked on their study guide. It is attached below.

9/25 - The students began the Unit 1 test that posted at 8 am this morning. It is due at 11:59 9/26 (Saturday). The instructions are on the test its self and it is posted in an assignment on Microsoft Teams.
9/28 - The students began researching innovations during industrialization. The assignment is posted in Teams and is a Microsoft Form with 9 innovators between the 1870s and 1920s. The students are to research each innovator and follow the instructions within the assignment. It is due by 8:00 pm on 9/29 (tomorrow).
9/29 - The students finished the previous day's assignment. It is due by 8:00 pm 9/29 (today).
9/30 - The students read about innovations in the United States during the Second Industrial Revolution. They read about these innovations on Canvas which can be accessed through Clever. The students then took a quiz. The quiz is also on canvas and is located after the article itself. If you were absent and are confused as to how to get to this article and the quiz, send me an email. The quiz is due by tomorrow, 10/1 by 8:00 am.
10/1 - The students who did not turn in the Innovation Nation quiz on time yesterday finished it in class today while the students who did finish on time began reading about Populism (on Canvas) and taking the quiz about Populism. If you were absent and do not know how to access the quiz, send me an email and I will provide you with step by step instructions.
10/2 - The students held a short discussion on inventors and entrepreneurs and then finished the Populism reading from the previous day as well as finshed the Populism Quiz.
10/5 - The students reviewed the Populism reading from canvas, answered a series of questions for a discussion, and then held a discussion on populism and geography.
10/6 - The students finished the discussion on Populism and geography. After the discussion they began reading "Coming to America" on Canvas to prepare themselves for a 20 question multiple choice quiz on Wednesday 10/7.
10/7 - The students took a 20 question multiple choice quiz on the "Coming to America" reading from Canvas the previous day. The students then engaged in a discussion about immigration during the Gilded Age.
10/8 - The students continued their discussion on immigration during the Gilded Age.
10/9 - The students completed any neccessary make up work.
10/19 - The students read about Social Darwinism and the Social Gospel Movement and answered a series of guiding questions to go along with the reading. The students then prepared to have a discussion on both topics. The article is located below.

10/20 - The students read about the Labor Movement in Canvas and took the quiz that was attached to it (all in Canvas, Module 2).
10/21 - The students began working on the Unit 2 Test Study Guide that is posted in Microsoft Teams and also located below. It is due tomorrow, Thursday, 10/22.

10/22 - The students continued to work on the Unit 2 Study guide located on Microsoft Teams and on my website. It is due today.
10/23 - The students began the Unit 2 test on Industrialization and Immigration. The test posted as a Microsoft Form within an assignment created on Teams.
10/26 - The students read the Rise of Political Machines in Canvas (Module 2) and then answered 10 multiple choice questions in a Microsoft form located in Microsoft Teams. The assignment is due Tuesday, 10/27 by 8:00 am.
10/27 - The students finished the Rise of Political Machines quiz from the previous day.
10/28 - The students went onto Clever, scrolled down to module 2, and clicked on the Social Change link. They then read the pages about social change during the Second Industrial Revolution and then wrote a half page summary about what they read and uploaded the document to the assignment created called Social Change. This assignment is due tomorrow by 11:59 pm.
10/29 - The students finished the summary from the previous day.
10/30 - The students answered starter questions for the Child Labor lesson on Monday. The questions are found in the Urbanization, Gilded Age, Populism poweroint found in the Powerpoints for US history section of this website.
11/2 - No class. The students were taking the practice ACT.
11/3 - No school; Teacher DLD.
11/4 - The students looked at primary sources to understand what child labor was like durning the late 1800s and early 1900s. Everything the students need for today's class is located below.

11/5 - The students continued the assignment from the previous day.
11/6 - The students completed any make up work and made sure they had the child labor guiding questions answered and turned in.
